Dashboard

The Dashboard is the screen payIQ opens on by default. It gives you a compact, loaded overview of the workspace you are currently in.

All figures are the latest available information from your workspace, filtered to your role. If you cannot see a metric, it is because your role does not include access to that data (see Roles & access).

Four headline figures at the top of the page:

Card What it shows
Employees Total employees in the workspace (headcount).
Gross payroll Gross payroll from the latest result-bearing payroll run. Only shown if a run with results exists.
Net payroll Net payroll from the same run as Gross payroll.
Outstanding advances Total outstanding advance balance across all employees. Only shown if you have access to advances.

The payroll cards name the period and run they describe (for example, Period Aug 2026). If no result-bearing run exists yet, the cards say so instead of showing a misleading zero.

A single-row table showing the most recent payroll run (by creation date):

Column Meaning
Period Payroll period code and human-readable label.
Pay date The period’s pay date, or — if not set.
Status Draft, Calculated, or Finalized with a coloured badge.
Employees Number of employee results in the run.
Gross Gross payroll amount.
Net Net payroll amount.
Actions Opens the Payroll workspace for that period.

If no payroll runs exist yet, an empty state explains how to create one.

A second card with workspace totals:

  • Attendance records — total attendance records (all statuses).
  • Leave requests — total leave requests (all statuses).
  • Accounting handoffs — total handoffs recorded for LedgerIQ.
  • Payment instructions — total payment instructions.
  • Employees — workspace headcount (repeated for quick reference).

These counts come from the reports summary cards and respect your role. A Read-only Reporter, for example, sees attendance, leave, and accounting counts but not payment or payroll money.

The header shows a Current period pill with the latest payroll period and an Open payroll button that takes you to the Payroll workspace.

Role Sees
Payroll Operator, Approver, Administrator All metric cards, latest payroll run table, all quick counts.
Payment/Reconciliation Reviewer Employees, Outstanding advances (if advances visible), Accounting handoffs, Attendance, Leave, Payment instructions count. Does not request payroll run data.
Read-only Reporter Employees (count only), Accounting handoffs, Attendance, Leave. No payroll money, no advance money, no payroll run data.

See Roles & access for the full matrix.

The Dashboard is an overview only. It does not let you:

  • Create or edit employees, compensation, or components — use Employees.
  • Create, calculate, or finalize payroll runs — use Payroll.
  • Record advances or repayments — use Advances.
  • Record attendance or leave — use Attendance & Leave.
  • Prepare or reconcile payments — use Payments.
  • Run or export reports — use Reports.
  • Change settings — use Settings.

If the workspace has no payroll runs yet, the Latest payroll run section shows an empty state with a link to create one. The payroll metric cards state that no result-bearing run exists. All other sections show honest zeros or counts based on the data that does exist.
